Marches and Moments and Movements

This past weekend saw the coming together of women in peaceful protest.
It was a tipping point, if you will, that placed women at the precipice of a movement.
What started as one voice expressing a desire to do something morphed into a thousand voices...which morphed into a million voices; all ready, willing and eager to take action.
A fire was ignited within the bellies of women.
This march became greater than just one cause, however.
For, along with the knitting of hats, came the knitting of ideas and issues and concerns.
And on the day of the march,
across the United States and much of the free world,
we bore witness to this tapestry of issues -- each embracing, welcoming and complementing the other.
What began as a rejection of misogyny, discrimination, injustice and falsehoods
soon trumpeted a call for kindness and compassion and respect for all human beings.
This march...organized and led by women...for women...
soon found itself naturally embracing people of every generation, race and gender...each one lending their voice to extol the virtues of our shared humanity in the face of its potential erosion and demise.
This march bespoke of
love rather than fear
inclusion rather than exclusion
acceptance rather than rejection
compassion rather than cruelty
responsibility rather than denial.
And so...now the work begins.
As has often been said, "it is women that will change the world."
Perhaps this sentiment speaks to a sacred calling for all women.
After all...
We are built for such a challenge.
We are the givers of life.
So let us do what we do naturally...
Let us breathe new life into this one big beautiful world.
